BORE GUIDE (BORE SAVER) INFORMATION

The bore guide is a gun cleaning tool that protects and facilitates bore cleaning. The bore guide ensures that the cleaning rod pass through the action and into the barrel without damaging the chamber. The o-rings in the front of the Bore Guide seal in the chamber so that no dirt and solvent don´t get into the action or magazine during cleaning. The Dewey adjustable Bore Guide (Bore Saver) can be used by both left and right actions.

DO YOU NEED A BOREGUIDE?

No, you don't have to, but there are several benefits by using a bore guide. It makes it easy to clean the rifle and protects against damage that may occur in the chamber or bore. The bore guide guides the cleaning rod through the action and centers the rod, jag and brush so it pass straight into the bore. The bore guide also prevents dirt and solvent from getting into the action. If you clean your rifle often, want to protect your rifle from damage or strive for the best precision, than we recommend that you use a bore guide during the bore cleaning.



WHAT BORE GUIDE DOES FIT MY RIFLE?

If you are not sure which Bore Guide fits your rifle, measure the bolt diameter with a caliper (see FIGURE 1). You can find our Dewey Bore Guides dimensions in the table further down. What  determines which bore guide will fit is primarily the aluminum spacing on the Bore Guide (MEASUREMENT "D" IN THE TABLE BELOW) the aluminum spacing centers the bore guide in the rifle (see FIGURE 3). The aluminum spacing can not have a larger diameter than the bolt of your gun. The bore guide must also fit in the chamber (MEASUREMENT "B" IN THE TABLE BELOW) Please note that we also have bore guides for Blaser R93 & R8 in our range as well as a Universal Bore Guide from Hoppe's that fits rifles with bolts diameter 17.6mm, caliber .17 up to .416


INSTRUKTIONER

Before you start your gun cleaning, make sure the gun is not loaded! Remove the bolt from the rifle. Loosen the brass handle on the Bore Guide and insert the Bore Guide where the bolt is normally located. Carefully press the Bore Guide into the chamber until you feel the o-rings seal in the chamber, (depending on caliber, either the front o-ring or the rear seals). You do not need to force it in anymore than you feel it is seals properly. Then turn down the Bore Guide brass handle where the bolt handle is normally located (see FIGURE 2). Then lock the Bore Guide by screwing in the brass handle until it locks the Bore Guide into a fixed position. The Bore Guide is now ready for use (see FIGURE 3). Also, make sure that the rifle barrel is lower than the action during cleaning, so that the dirt and solvent don´t flow backwards.

On some rifles, the milled notch in the model ABS Bore Guide's aluminum collar can be used to lock the Bore Guide into the action.

To release the Bore Guide from the gun, turn counterclockwise to release the o-ring seal in the chamber.

Clean the Bore Guide with detergent and hot water.

SAFETY

After using the Bore Guide, make sure no o-ring has loosened and remains in the chamber or barrel. Also always check before loading the gun that the chamber and the barrel are free of foreign objects, oil and solvent.

Sako 75/85 
The smaller calibers have a bolt diameter of about 15.2mm, but magnum calibers such as 7mmRemMag, 300WinMag, 338WinMag, 375HH Mag have a bolt of about 17.6mm. Sako TRG-22 and TRG-42 have a bolt of about 17.6mm. Bore guides for rifles with a bolt diameter of 17.6mm we recommended ABS boreguide.

None of Dewey's Bore guides fit in the chamber of caliber 9.3x62 this because the ABS-4 and ABS-6 bore guide have too large diameter of the tube (dimension A in the table) to fit in the chamber. If the bolt diameter is 17.6mm then this fits HOPPE'S Universal Boreguide and Boreguide HMBG06 till kaliber 9,3x62. 

Bore Guide caliber 9,3x57 
None of Dewey's Bore guides fit in the chamber of caliber 9.3x57 this because the ABS-4 and ABS-6 bore guide have too large diameter of the tube (dimension A in the table) to fit in the chamber. If the bolt diameter is 17.6mm then this fits HOPPE'S Universal Boreguide and Boreguide HMBG06 till kaliber 9,3mm.
